The following are good methods for removing dust from the surface of a TV screen:

Dry cleaning

  • Turn off the TV and remove the plug from the wall – safety is important!
  • If you have an instruction manual for the device, read it carefully to find out what material has been used in the manufacture and what kind of cleaning products should be used.
  • A clean microfiber cloth is good for collecting dust, and it is the best guarantee that there will be no residue from cleaning. In fact, many televisions come with a microfiber cloth.
  • Avoid using paper or plain fabrics. These materials are coarse and can easily scratch a plasma, LED, or LCD TV.

Use of cleaning fluid

  • If you have an old TV with a glass screen, you can easily clean it with a microfiber cloth moistened with glass cleaning fluid.
  • Do not spray liquid on the screen. Instead, try to clean the surface first with a dry cloth. The screen should be cleaned with a dry cloth, and wet materials should be avoided unless absolutely necessary.
  • Distilled water is often recommended for cleaning modern televisions. Do not use cleaning products that contain strong chemicals such as alcohol or other corrosive substances. They can damage the screen.
  • If you have a TV in the kitchen, it is definitely particularly dirty due to fumes and grease. In this case, it is advisable to spray a little vinegar on the microfiber cloth and wipe the dirty areas.
  • Do not press the surface very hard during cleaning. Be very careful with modern TVs as they are made of more sensitive materials than the old ones.
  • Clean with soft, horizontal strokes.
  • Check the monitor stand and clean it with a few strokes. Always use rags on the screen that you do not use for other cleaning.
